How would you like to travel back in time and find yourself in the 16th century and all around you are sights and sounds reminiscent of a medieval village? As you meander through the village you see jugglers and street musicians and the air is filled with the aroma of roasting turkey legs and hot buttered corn-on-the-cob. Just then a fairy dashes by followed by a group of giggling children and over there, an artisan practices their craft while bystanders look on in wonder.
This world is more than a fantasy, it is the reality of the Colorado Renaissance Festival and you simple must be there to experience this amazing spectacle for yourself. Every weekend from June 15th through August 4th, 2013, just south of the Denver Metroplex in charming Larkspur, Colorado, you will find one of the most authentically recreated medieval villages you have ever seen. This festival is rich in tradition and many of the same artisans, musicians, performers and vendors come back year after year. You can expect to find approximately 200 vendors displaying their wares.
Because this is a year round installation, some of the buildings at the Denver Renn Festival are permanent which really lends to the authenticate village feeling.
The extremely funny Puke and Snot never fail to entertain and bring a smile to your face. Look for the sword swallower, he will simply shock and amaze you with his ability. The jousting show, no description necessary, don’t miss it. Be sure to seek out the bell playing musician and the Celtic drummers who are both very entertaining. The Washing Wenches are also a very funny act and highly recommended. Be sure and find the Rocky Mountain Raptors act because they will show you why falconry really was the sport of kings.
The favorite foods of the festival, year after year, include mac-n-cheese on a stick, sweet potato fries, fried pickles, steak on a stake and of course, turkey legs. Bring your appetite and your thirst because the beer flows, which can be a great thing during the heat of the day.
