If you would like to escape the big city hustle and bustle of L.A., put on your finest 16th Century garb and spend the day in celebration of all things renaissance, grab some friends and head up to Big Bear City for the Renaissance Festival.  The first three weekends in August is when the residents of Big Bear will open their town and their hearts to the knights, fair ladies and jesters that will come to visit.

The village of the Faire will host artisans, craftspersons, the chefs who prepare food for one and all and even games of merriment.  You will find 6 stages for performances throughout the Enchanted Shire.  The Great Square is where you can see the maypole dances, jousts and pirate battles played out for your viewing pleasure.

Be sure to enjoy some of the visitor favorites when you join us this summer.

Queen Elizabeth

Seek out the Queen to pay your respects and she will reward you with a group of beautiful courtiers, splendid musicians and talented actors who will take you back to a simpler and more romantic time.

The Bawdy Juggler

His name is Adam and he is an incredible talent in the art of juggling. As he juggles knives, fire and pins, he will take your breath away, and at the same time he will charm you with his wit.

Story Theatre

Victoria is the Faire’s storyteller extraordinaire who loves to bring her audience into her tales.  She is also a talented teacher to the children of the Faire that want to learn the art of sword fighting.

The Universe According To Galileo

He will teach you all about astronomy as it was known in the 1600s when new things were being discovered every day.  If you see his show, expect great entertainment with a fascinating history lesson as well.

The Knights of Mayhem

Here you will see a jousting performance guaranteed to amaze you with the recreation of the duel to the death.  You can also see masters of the weaponry of the day in competition for recognition from the fair damsels.

If you plan to visit, be sure you really “live” the experience by transforming yourself with a costume that will bring out the true medieval you.

These are just a few of the many acts that will delight you during your day at The Big Bear City Renaissance Faire.  You will find art and entertainment, mirth and merriment and memories galore on your trip through the portal to a bygone time where men might really be called upon to fight for the hand of their beloved.
